Reimagining Language and Meaning
As the grain, so the word
Students in the fall 2018 and fall 2019 Perennial Turn in Ag and Culture course were assigned a mid-term paper in which they were asked to develop two glossary terms that describe the perennial turn. They each had to provide a rationale, background, and context that explained their choice in a 10-page paper that also connected the thinking and learning they had been doing all semester. In the summer of 2020 New Perennials interns Raechel Zeller and Kendal Pittman compiled the terms and developed a format for the glossary. Our fall 2020 Intern Jame Peacock designed these beautiful images on display here.
There are new meanings for old words, and new words with perhaps old meanings. The presentation format below was inspired by Perennial Turn student Maya Gomez who designed a recipe card for one of her glossary words, Wonder.
Enjoy this burst of imagining what it is to be perennial!
